Anri’s Sixth Birthday

Anri on her sixth birthday

Anri turned six on December 30th, and we had a party for her, with all the food she likes. Lots of family came over to join the party!

And what does Anri like to eat? She called all the shots on the food, so we had fried chicken, potato salad, ikura (salmon eggs — yes, she likes these!), and Chinese dumplings. And of course, we had Baskin Robbins’ ice cream cake!

Anri got some more Licca doll accessories and a play make up kit, with which she made a mess of Sara’s face, but had a great time doing so! SHe also got some clothes and more Fuzion beads to make things with. She had a great day! Happy Birthday, Anri!

Noah Turns One! Bring out that ice cream cake!

Noah turned one on March 17, and we all sat down and celebrated over a Baskin Robbin’s ice cream cake. Noah too. He loves ice cream!

He got some presents too. From his Japanese grandparents, he got some nice Ralph Lauren clothes. And from Grandma in the US, he got a Leap Frog train!

Finally from Mommy and Daddy, he got a learning playset, also made by Leap Frog. You can probably tell we are big fans of this company! And though this was Noah’s new toy, we had a hard time keeping Anri and Sara away from it. Here is a photo of the girls hogging the thing while Noah waits his turn. He didn’t have to wait long.

Sara Turns 1!

Happy Birthday, Sara!

It was one year ago today that Sara was born, and we celebrated her first birthday tonight with lots of food, ice cream cake and presents.

Baa-chan and Uncle Kenichi came over for dinner, a big meal with food prepared by Tomomi and her mother, and Anri and Sara had a great time playing with Uncle Kenichi. After dinner and the opening of presents — all clothes for Sara, and one little pop-up book — we finally brought out the Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake and sang Happy Birthday.

Sara couldn’t quite blow out the lone candle on her own, but with a little help from her big sister Anri, it was out in no time.

Anri gave Sara a present too. Anri drew a picture of Sara, with very long hair and wrote Sara’s name on it in English. Below Sara’s name, Anri wrote “age 1″ in Japanese. There’s more writing on the top right side, but nobody is reall sure what that is!
