Sara Turns Three (and gets the flu)

Sara on her Third Birthday

Sara on her Third Birthday

Sara turned three years old on Sunday, and we had a nice little birthday party for her marking the event.  She had a strawberry cake and presents, but the next day, she caught the flu from her big sister Anri.

The flu wasn’t Anri’s present, though.  Anri drew some nice pictures for Sara and wrote a birthday letter.  Anri is getting over the flu and was present only for the time when we sang Happy Birthday, and even then she was wearing a mask.  Poor Anri had to eat her cake and observe from a distance, but in the end she got to play with some of the toys Sara got.  Sharing, of course.

Sara got a Fisher Price baby doll crib/stroller/high chair set for her birthday.  From her Japanese grandma, she got a nice little pair of snow boots.  Her present from Grandma in the US is coming soon!

The very next day, though, Sara was up to 39 degrees C and Tomomi got her some medication.  Noah wasn’t showing flu symptoms other than an occasional cough, but the doctor gave some flu medication for him too.  He was running around the living room with a smile all day, non-stop.  Then at around 9:30 pm last night, I went out of the room for 2 minutes, came back and found him asleep, seated on the living room sofa.

Right now I am working on the video of Sara’s party to send to family and friends…
